Placer
Introduction
Placer County is located in the Sierra Nevada of California, in what is known as the Gold Country. Because of the expansion of the Sacramento metropolitan area, Placer County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state. The state government’s population bureau lists a January 1, 2006 estimate of 326,242. The county seat is Auburn.
