El Dorado
Introduction
El Dorado County is a county located in the Gold Country of California, in the Sierra Nevada. The state government’s population bureau lists a January 1, 2006 estimate of 178,066. The county seat is Placerville. Much of the population of El Dorado County has become suburbanized, as the metropolitan Sacramento area has expanded. El Dorado County was one of the original counties of California, created in 1850 at the time of statehood.
