Work Force Task Team [KTB, Section 9]

This packaged resource, the Knowledge Transfer guide, derives from the Master Plan for the Los Angeles Universal Preschool (LAUP). It is intended to translate the missions and goals of the Master Plan into implementation recommendations for the initial start-up of LAUP, called Early Launch.

Workforce is one of the nine sections of the LAUP Knowledge Transfer guide, authored by the Workforce Task Team, and focuses on ways to build an appropriately skilled and stable early care and education workforce that is capable of providing high-quality universal preschool services.

The three main goals for the Workforce Task Team were to develop strategies of:

  1. Communicating LAUP requirements to the existing early care and education workforce and informing them of opportunities to improve their skills.
  2. Promoting changes in institutions of higher education that will support the development of more qualified preschool teachers and administrators in Los Angeles County.
  3. Closing the gap for compensation between teachers in Universal Preschool programs and teachers in the K-12 system with comparable education and experience.
