Programs that rely on public funds have increasingly been held accountable for demonstrating their effectiveness. Many states mandate formal evaluation of implementation and impact of their preschool programs, but most states have not formally evaluated their programs. This paper updates an earlier paper by the authors, and summarizes and analyzes the results of all reported state evaluations of state prekindergarten programs to date.
